The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Village Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of essential village and town services at Leinster, a unique mining community located in Western Australia’s northern Goldfields.

Located approximately 1,000 kilometres north-east of Perth, Leinster is an established community of around 500 permanent residents, surrounded by an abundance of trees that make this remote location a true “oasis in the desert.”

As a closed mining town, Leinster is home to BHP employees, contractors and 3rd Party visitors, offering a lifestyle that is very different from a typical remote mining camp with an impressive range of facilities, including a supermarket, café, service station, medical centre, daycare centre, community school and tavern/bistro. As well as sporting and leisure facilities, 50-metre swimming pool and baby pool, indoor sports centre, squash courts, golf simulator, football and cricket oval, and an 18-hole golf course.

Our Town and Village Services

As Village Manager, you will oversee the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of services we provide to the Leinster Community and Village residents including but not limited to;

  • Supermarket – ensuring residents have access to essential groceries and everyday supplies
  • Tavern Bistro – overseeing a welcoming, compliant and well-managed social hub for the community
  • Café – delivering quality food, beverage and customer service
  • Temporary Accommodation – managing accommodation services and ensuring rooms and facilities are maintained to a high standard
  • Swimming Pool and Sporting Facilities – overseeing the safe operation, presentation and maintenance of the village sporting and pool facilities
  • Dry Mess – Providing a high-standard of healthy and nutritious meals and dining experience for camp guests
  • Camp Administration – providing professional and efficient administration, customer service and support across the village operation

About the Role

Reporting to the Key Account Manager, and supported by an experienced supervisory team, you will take overall responsibility for the successful day-to-day operation of the services under our management at Leinster.

You will:

  • Lead and support department heads across retail, hospitality, accommodation and recreation services
  • Ensure the supermarket, tavern, café, temporary accommodation and swimming pool are appropriately staffed, maintained and operated
  • Drive consistently high standards of service, presentation, cleanliness and resident experience
  • Ensure all services operate safely and in accordance with client and ISS policies, procedures and legislative requirements
  • Provide visible leadership across the village and build strong relationships with residents, employees, contractors and the client
  • Motivate, mentor and develop a diverse team of 50+ employees
  • Manage staff performance, engagement and development
  • Provide regular operational and commercial reporting to the Key Account Manager
  • Take responsibility for P&L performance, budgeting and cost control
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality and the resident experience
  • Ensure compliance with all client and ISS HSE, Food Safety and operational requirements
  • Lead toolbox meetings, safety initiatives and in-field safety leadership
  • Ensure all systems, processes and controls are operating effectively
  • Foster a caring, positive, engaged and high-performing culture where learning and development are central to success
  • Actively participate and support town activities where required, always representing the ISS team and brand professionally

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in Facilities Management, Village Management, Hospitality, Retail or Mining Camp Operations
  • Strong operational leadership skills across multiple service areas, leading and developing large, diverse teams, including 50+ employees
  • Strong knowledge of HSE/OH&S legislation, safety systems and compliance
  • Experience working within HR and Industrial Relations frameworks
  • Strong commercial awareness, including P&L management, budgeting and cost control
  • Ability to work a 4 days on, 3 days off FIFO roster from Perth
  • Current Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical
