Lead a Specialist Cleaning Team Supporting Australia's Defence Personnel

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Periodical Cleaning Team Lead to lead our specialist cleaning operations across Defence facilities in Perth. This role is ideal for an experienced cleaning professional who understands the planning, scheduling and execution of periodical cleaning programs and has strong knowledge of specialised cleaning equipment and processes. Based on the Position Description, the role leads specialised and periodical cleaning services, supervises cleaning teams, manages scheduled cleaning programs, and ensures service delivery meets ISS standards and Defence requirements.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Cleaning & Accommodation Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team delivering specialist and periodical cleaning services across accommodation, operational and shared facilities.
You will ensure cleaning programs are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards while developing team capability and maintaining excellent customer relationships.
This is a leadership role requiring both operational expertise and the ability to coordinate resources, equipment and personnel to achieve outstanding outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and support a team of periodical cleaning professionals.
- Plan, schedule and execute periodical cleaning programs across Defence facilities.
- Coordinate specialist cleaning activities including:
- Carpet extraction
- Strip and seal floor maintenance
- Pressure washing
- High-detail and deep-cleaning services
- Ensure scheduled, responsive and clinical cleaning requirements are delivered to contract standards.
- Conduct quality inspections and audits to maintain service excellence.
- Train and mentor team members in specialist cleaning techniques and equipment operation.
- Manage customer enquiries, service requests and operational issues professionally.
- Ensure cleaning equipment, chemicals and consumables are available, maintained and used correctly.
- Support workplace safety initiatives and ensure compliance with ISS, Defence and WHS requirements.
- Maintain accurate operational records and reporting.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a cleaning supervisory or team leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating periodical cleaning activities.
- Strong understanding of specialist cleaning processes and methodologies.
- Experience operating and maintaining specialised cleaning equipment including:
- Floor scrubbers
- Carpet extractors
- Pressure cleaning equipment
- Window cleaning systems
- Other commercial cleaning machinery
- Strong people leadership, coaching and team development skills.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling and cleaning procedures.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Australian Citizenship.
- Current National Police Clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Baseline Security Clearance.
Desirable
- Previous Defence, government or secure-site experience.
- Certificate II in Cleaning Operations or higher.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Senior First Aid qualification.
- Experience using workforce management systems such as UKG.
- Knowledge of Facilities Management Systems (FMS).

Due to Defence security requirements, applicants must be Australian Citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Baseline Security Clearance.
